Comics and Technology: Finding Direction in a Technological Age
Up until the last 15 years or so, if you were a comic book fan, if you wanted to buy comics, you would go to the comic shop or book store, period. Feed the Internet Monster
April 6, 2010
A new feature will take Comic Domination into the realm of RSS! If you didn't know what RSS is, it's a file that can be viewed in your browser, which is updated in real-time, like a news feed. When a new article is added, it shows up at the top of the feed. If you have never tried RSS, now is a good time! If you use a newer version of Firefox, you can click here: (http://www.comicdomination.com/comicdomination.rss)and select "add to live bookmarks." Now, when you hover over the Comic Domination link you created, you will be able to see the newest pages added! If you don't have Firefox, or you just want to use your own reader, you can copy the link and use it to subscribe via Google Reader or any of the other RSS readers out there.

From this point forward, all comics uploaded will be added to an RSS file for the main Comic Domination site (http://www.comicdomination.com/comicdomination.rss) and to your own RSS file (http://yoursite.comicdomination.com/yoursite.rss). Once added, an image link to your new page will be added to in the RSS news feed created for your site. If you fill in the "annotations" box on the upload page, the text entered will show up as the article in the feed. Otherwise, a generic message will be created, telling readers your page was uploaded. You can go back and edit your RSS file at any time, but be careful because they don't quite follow the same rules as HTML. Certain characters will even render the entire feed invalid.

Once you upload your next page, an RSS file will automatically be generated for you. And, if you are using the default template for your comics pages, a "subscribe" link will automatically show up.

RSS can be an invaluable tool to site owners, so be sure and let your readers in on your new feed!
